  Prices
I am happy to refer but I don't vouch for any other breeder nor
do I control the prices they set for their animals!
.
This is probably the most frequently asked question asked of me
that has nothing to do with the breed itself. Pricing dogs varies
not only from location to location, but also from breeder to breeder.
One breeder may charge half as much as another on the other side
of the same street! It is up to the buyer to determine WHY these
dogs range in price so much.
.
I normally give a range of prices in my discussion of breeder
types - these are generalities and not specifics.  I have a number
of "breeders" who write to me and tell me that their prices don't
put them into that catagory. That may be true, and it may not.
That's why I don't vouch for any specific breeder - it's up to you
to find out if money or time or love of the breed make the prices
what they are where you live.
.
Part of what I do on this website is to report the generalities as
I've found them - no one can give you specific information about
prices in the area of the world that you live in except those people
in the area. Please don't write me and ask "How much should
Yorkshire Terriers in Modeltown cost?" because I don't know -
I don't live in Modeltown. It's possible that Modeltown has only
one breeder who can set whatever price they want to set. It's also
possible that Modeltown has a dozen breeders who all price their
dogs under $200. But I cannot stress enough that it's not the price
you should be concerned about! You should be looking for a happy,
healthy, friendly pup or dog who's been socialized and loved before
you got it.
.
There is one other thing I must say here: don't go looking for a
"cheap" Yorkshire Terrier. I receive many letters from people
who say they "cannot afford to spend a lot of money to buy a dog."
My response is always, "Don't get a Yorkshire Terrier or any other breed!".
Just owning a dog costs money for food, regular vet care,
flea treatments, carpet shampoos, drycleaning, toys and treats and
leashes and beds - that's a LONG list! So if you cannot afford to
purchase a Yorkshire Terrier "right now" wait until you can
purchase the right one for you AND you have the capability to
handle the financial situation that can go with one. I don't mean
that you have to have a five digit savings account (it helps, though!)
but don't let your dog break your bank account, either.
